Without ink as a service, using those 303XL (1 black, 1 color) would be stupid expensive, but with it, it's €12 or 36/year (for 180/600 pages) and they do the rest. I'm actually considering getting an HP Envy 7830 for at home, AIO with ADF (single sided), separate 10x15 photo paper drawer. Instant ink fixes that problem - I pay per month for x pages, nothing more or less. The smaller units like the Envy photo have better print quality but horrible printing cost, they even combine the 3 colors in 1 cart.
It works, it's fast, quality is passable. all have pretty horrible coated paper printing quality and just meh on normal uncoated paper. The big Officejet Pro (we have the 80s), Epson Workforce / Ecotank etc. What is not to like about it? IT's OEM ink for refurb price. And new printers include 3 to 9 months of free Instant Ink. 300 pages per month plan brings the cost per page down to 4 cent, 3600 pages for 144/year, only a little bit more than 1 set of XL carts per year.Īnd it works on stupid cheap printers too like a Deskjet 2723, €59, bringing those down from 15 cent per page (lol 4ml volume in the 305"XL") to 4 to 6 cents. You don't have to worry about keeping the printer on and it running its daily cleaning cycle. Instant ink doesn't care if you put quality on max for every print. That is 6 or 5 cent per page, the same price as a set of 963XL carts (€121) divided by 2000 pages (6 cents per page).
The 50/100 pages plan are 3 or 5 euros per month. New plan goes in effect instantly, pro-rated, no waiting for next billing period / quarter / year nonsense. You can upgrade and downgrade at any moment. I don't get the bitching at Instant Ink lately, it is the absolute cheapest way to print for a home / light office user.
